The Party
"So this is Porky's house?" Lola said as Bugs led her up the path to what looked like an old English country house.
"Yeah Porky had it built for him and Petunia some time in the late fifties," Bugs replied as they walked into a large hallway.
"I bet your's is bigger," Lola said as she gazed at the immense hallway and the rooms she could see into.
"Yeah but not by much" he answered leading her into Porky's sitting room.
"Would you like to dance Lola?" Bugs asked as he handed her a glass of white wine.
She shook her head as she accepted the drink and looked at her feet a little. "I'm not very good at dancing, at least with guys," she said a little shyly.
"How do you mean?" Bugs asked a little confused. "I've seen you playing basketball and you can move past even the Monstars with relative ease. How can you not be good at dancing?"
"I said with guys. Or with others, just on my own well," Lola shrugged "I just move around in time with the music."
"That's all dancing is" Bugs said offering her his hand as he stepped towards the "dancefloor", in reality Porky's lounge with the furniture moved up against the walls.
"Or has no one asked you to dance before?"
Lola took another sip of her drink before answering, "That and I don't really want to dance."
"Are you not having a good time?"
"I just feel a bit like an outsider, I haven't really spoken to many of you other than when we were training and I don't think we have that much in common really. You guys are all rich and famous actors, I'm just a small town girl who works as a trainer at a gym."
"We weren't always actors and most of us are from small towns originally. I'm the only one who is actually from somewhere like New York," Bugs said. Normally at parties he was always looking around to see what was going on but he'd been unable to take his eyes off of Lola since they arrived.
He smiled inwardly, Lola had left him literally tied in knots when he'd challenged her to a one and one and while Micheal Jordan had the rest of them running drills after that he'd gone straight up to Lola and apologised if he'd offended her for calling her doll he'd only meant it to be friendly. She'd accepted and he noticed just how beautiful her eyes were, sapphire blue and filled with life but tinged with sadness which made him feel bad for her.
He set his glass down and for something like the hundredth time by his reckoning that day gazed into her eyes, until he met Lola he'd never noticed how beautiful a woman's eyes could be on their own, her whole face was beautiful although Lola herself seemed to think she was merely pretty, but her eyes had not just a beauty entirely of their own but enhanced that of her face.
"Well why don't you tell me more about yourself. Like why don't you like to be called da D word?"
Lola blushed slightly, most guys she met just tried to chat her up and here one of the most famous people on the planet was actually taking an interest in her for more than her looks.

Foghorn started walking over to Bugs and Lola to see if either wanted another drink when Daffy and Melissa intercepted him. "I don't think either of them want a drink right now Foggy" Daffy said with a grin towards the two bunnies who were chatting in the corner as Melissa her beak split in an ear to ear grin shunted him towards Elmer and Yosemite Sam.
"I think he likes her quite a bit," Melissa said to Daffy as they saw Bugs give Lola his number and arrange to meet her for breakfast the next morning.
"I know he does," Daffy replied as he slipped an arm around her waist and hold her close. "It's about time he met someone who likes him for him."
"I thought you were supposed to be jealous of him?" Melissa teased as she pecked him on the cheek.
Daffy kissed her before answering, "As you well know he's like a brother to me and after that bitch broke his heart he was jealous of me. Because I had such a good and beautiful woman in my life."

Breakfast
Lola headed for a booth at the cafe where she and Bugs had arranged to meet for breakfast. She was wearing a pair of stone coloured jeans and a faded purple blouse and her faux leather jacket and her ears were tied up with a white hair band and a battered looking brown purse over her shoulder as she sat down and pulled a menu in front of her.
"Been waiting long Lola?" Bugs asked as he sat across from her in a pair of dark blue slacks and a white long sleeved T shirt under a dark blue jacket.
She smiled at him, "No I just got here."
Smiling back he pulled a menu in front of him, "Decided what you want yet?"
"A two egg omlette, wholewheat toast with blueberry jam and a medium coffee," she replied.
"How Bondian, well you would be if you had marmalade instead of jam" Bugs said with a grin "I think I'll have the same but with marmalade."
"What's marmalade?"
"Kind of an orange jam. Would you like some orange juice as well?" he asked as a waitress came towards them.
"Would it be too much of a stereotype to ask for a carrot juice?"
"Not at all," Bugs said as he gave the waitress their order.
"So you never told me why you don't like to be called Do double hockey sticks last night," Bugs said once the waitress had handed them their coffee.
"It's what my Dad used to call me when I was little," Lola said a sad look on her face as she went silent for a moment before continuing, "He and my mother died when I was very young so it.." she trailed off.
Bugs reached over the table and squeezed her hand, "I'm sorry to hear that. So D?"
"Hurt's."
"So where do you work?"
"Jacks twenty four gym as a trainer."
"Something tells me that's not what you want to do for the rest of your life though."
"Well I want to be a journalist like my Granddad was but that isn't an option right now."
"How come?"
"When my parents died my Dads parents took me in. But Grandma got sick when I was in college, real sick. She didn't make it and the medical bills got real high and Granddad didn't take it well so I had to drop out of college to look after him until he pulled himself together."
"Is he better?" Bugs asked as he took both her hands in his.
"Yes and I'm applying to night schools to make up my college education."
"Good, I'm glad to hear that. You've had enough tragedy in your life for now Lo."
"What did you call me?"
"Lo, is that a problem?"
"No I like it I've just never been given a nickname before."

"Do you have plans for friday night Lo?"
"Not really. Why?"
"Because I'm taking you out for the best night out you've ever had."
"Feeling sorry for me?" she said slightly defensively.
"No just that a beautiful, brilliant woman like you deserves a good time," he said as he stepped closer to her. "And like I told you last night, we couldn't have won without you. I want to thank you for that. Plus I like you, hanging out with you is fun. Most people who meet me see Bugs Bunny the character from the cartoons. You," he brushed her hair and ears back as he stroked her face gently and affectionately. "You see Bugs Bunny the person I don't have to be on with you."
"Then pick me up at nine. What should I wear?"
"Something nice," Bugs replied as he took her hand in his and kissed it. "Until friday then."
"Until friday it is," Lola said with a smile.
Bugs gets to know Lola a little bit better and her sad past. Contains one use of the B word and scenes some might find upsetting.

If Lola's an orphan here, why is this in the TLTS group?
